Safe, Legal and Convenient.

Only the word Safe is used by the DVSA during a driving test, but they want to see Safe, Legal and Convenient.

Safe, Legal and Convenient makes a safer, considerate and legal driver.

100% Not Safe, Legal or Convenient in all the pictures.

No pedestrian Access
On Crossing Zig-Zags
No space for Emergency vehicle
School Keep Clear zone
2 Parking Spaces
Blind bend and Double yellow lines

Rules are designed for a reason.

Any driver on UK roads SHOULD have taken and passed a driving test, or are taking driving lessons.
During the "Learning Period" drivers are taught about consideration to everyone when out in a car.
That will mean giving space when passing a cyclist or horse, Looking out for pedestrian who may be crossing a road,
being considerate to other road users at any given time that might help someone else out.
Learners are NEVER taught to be inconsiderate to others, and part of the driving test is seeing that you understand this.
Driving as a defensive driver not a competitive one, showing that you know the rules of the road and that what you know complies to the rules of the Highway Code.

When a driving examiner asks a learner to pull up alongside a kerb, they will ask them to
"find a safe place to pull up on the right or left hand side of the road"
When they use the word "SAFE" they mean SAFE, LEGAL AND CONVENIENT.

This means:-

  1. NOT ON A BEND
  2. NOT WITHIN 10 METRES OF A JUNCTION
  3. NOT IN A HIDDEN DIP
  4. NOT ON THE BROW OF A HILL
  5. BEING REASONABLY CLOSE TO THE KERB
  6. NOT ON DOUBLE YELLOW LINES
  7. NOT WHERE THERE ARE PARKING RESTRICTIONS
  8. NOT ON ZIG ZAG LINES
  9. NOT OVER SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY
  10. NOT ON A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING
  11. NOT ON THE PAVEMENT
  12. NOT OPPOSITE A JUNCTION
  13. NOT OVER A DROPPED KERB FOR PEDESTRIANS
  14. NOT IN A BUS STOP
  15. NOT OPPOSITE ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WOULD RESTRICT OTHER CARS FROM PASSING
  16. NOT ON KEEP CLEAR ZONES
  17. NOT ON A SHCOOL ZONE
  18. NOT IN A BOX JUNCTION
  19. PLUS MANY OTHERS

Yet somehow it seems that once a learner passes the driving test, these rules no longer apply!!!!

If you see things that other drivers do that annoy you, please ensure you don't become that driver yourself.

Pass your test and remain that safe,
considerate driver you were when you took your test.

The more cars there are on the road, the more drivers need to be conscientiously considerate.
Laziness, Entitlement, Ignorance, Arrogance, Lateness, and just General Inconsideration
are all no excuse for breaking the law.

All you achieve by doing this is cause a nuisance, possibly end up being the cause of an accident,
entice anger or even road rage from other drivers.
You can be the cause of emergency services not making it somewhere on time
(imagine how you'd feel if it was a family member they didn't make it to!)

And are possibly looking at penalty points on your licence as well as a fixed penalty notice

Just some of the NON safe, Legal or Convenient places
